As MHPM’s Western Region continues to attract exciting project opportunities, we seek an Assistant Project Manager to join our team in Calgary.  


Are you motivated to further develop your career by obtaining the LEED accreditation and working toward a PMP designation? Have you gained some experience in a consultancy or professional services environment, design management, construction contract administration, or project financial management? Is your experience backed by an education in engineering, architecture or quantity surveying?

What you’ll get to do as an Assistant Project Manager at MHPM:

  • Work alongside experienced project managers to learn the keys to client satisfaction and successful project delivery
  • Provide project  support to the Project Manager(s) including schedule updates, progress reports and preparation of tender and contract documents
  • Engage in on-site organization of contractors and consultants
  • Attend project and site meetings, capturing action items and key decisions in minutes
  • Provide a communication path between the Project Manager(s) and contractors, consultants and suppliers
  • Provide relief support on other projects when available to do so
  • Ensure that project activities are conducted in accordance with MHPM’s Quality Management System

What you’ll need to be successful:

  • A university degree or diploma in engineering, architecture or quantity surveying (or an equivalent combination of academic and practical experience)
  • Previous exposure to consultant and design management, construction contract administration and project financial an asset
  • An understanding of project delivery models, including design-build, construction management, design-bid-build and P3/AFP
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills 
  • Self-motivation, initiative and an eagerness to learn
  • A results oriented approach with the ability to take responsibility
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to prioritize competing tasks to meet tight deadlines
  • Strong computer skills, including a working knowledge of scheduling (MS Project), word processing (Word) and spreadsheet (Excel) software applications
  • PMP designation and LEED accreditation an asset
